World Cup 2010: Ghana wins over Serbia 1-0 & Brixton goes mad.

As Australia is supposed to play against Germany tonight, I thought it was either Germans or, - more likely - Australians who were making all that cheerful preparatory noise around the corner. (There's loads of them living in Brixton and this all happened literally around the corner form my crib) So I got a bit curious and went out with my camera to see if I could take some scandalous photos of drunken Ozzies. Turned out Ghana had won their match against Serbia; which apparently was reason enough to have a party in the middle of the road next to Tesco's haha. Cars, busses, cyclists; everyone got stopped in the middle of the road by Ghanaian football fans. This was an amazing Brixton impromptu; London I heart you! x

The Box

In high school I struggled my way through Sartre's Huis Clos (No Exit) as part of French class. Last year when I was doing some personal research I was reminded of the play again and then stumbled upon a sci-fi/thriller/horror flick called "The Box", Richard Kelly's (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales) adaptation of "Button Button", a short novel written by Richard Matheson. (What Dream May Come, I Am Legend) Now wether the references to Sartre's ideas in this film do his philosophies justice I'm not quite sure of, there are some clever and subtle visual references, but the film kinda ends up being a melodramatic blockbuster with stories left untold. But at the time I was watching it I found it super enjoyable. It's one of those films that I can just watch over and over again just for it's aesthetics. Anyway, since getting familiar with Eric Rosenberg's work for the movie and television industry I've been more consciously looking at graphic design and composition in films and tv-series than I have before. I did this post to show some stills of The Box, which I think I watched over 3 times now. I love the visuals and cinematography, highly inspirational. Much love to cinematographer Steven Poster (who was also 2nd Unit Director of Photography on Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the Third Kind) for making this film so visually scrumptious.

Londonesquapades

I'm in the process of developing a product for the popup-shop event that we're organizing to fund our 3rd year degree show, it'll take place between 31 May and 7 June. You should all come and buy our things. It's going well but it's all a bit full-on and right now I'm kind of stuck. So just to get away from the intense research, prototype & brainstorm sessions for a bit I though I'd edit and post some photos that I took with my BlackBerry during the past year. These are bits of my London life and this collection makes my life look a bit like a Lomo-romance, which it absolutely isn't. I used to love to cross-process but don't have the time or money to indulge in such luxury analog photography anymore. :'( Back to work now. x

Cute.

I was cleaning up my hard drives and found these pictures I took a couple of years ago when I was living in New Zealand. They're the first pictures I took with a Holga.

Berlin.

Oh dear. I'm happily married to London but I think I might be at the start of an affair with Berlin...

Margot Bowman.

These photos that I took of her don't do her loveliness and originality justice.

The Doctor's Orders presents On The Real @ Plan Brixton

A bit late I know. But I've been busy, my laptop crashed and the end of the term is near, joy!
